Reviews

Bridge Eight is the new bright spot in Jacksonville’s up and coming literary scene. We are excited to see so many talented writers coming together showcasing the tremendous talents of some of Jacksonville’s finest authors! This publication will surely be instrumental in making Jacksonville the new Literary Capital of the South. We welcome Bridge Eight to our stores and look forward to many more publications to come from this great team.

Bridge Eight is a feast for the eyes, ears, fingers and mind.  Get a copy, Hell, get a dozen and share with your friends. Our community needs to support this.

The publication of Bridge Eight’s stunning first issue is something this writer and the rest of the literary community have been waiting for a long time. This marks a significant moment – now all of the River City can experience the compelling and sophisticated poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction Northeast Florida writers have to offer.

To become great, a city needs its writers. Skeptics may dismiss art as a structural need in a city, but I strongly disagree. You can travel the world and see the ruins of civilizations past, and they will give you a glimpse into history, but the stories, the mythology, tells you who that community was better than aging buildings. Bridge Eight is vital, because Jacksonville needs its stories told so we might better know ourselves, so the future might know us as well.

Jacksonville is crossing a new bridge with this inaugural anthology. May its structure stand firmly for years as it connects us to each other.
